‘Want to know the coolest part about having a nutrition coach? Freakin’ all of it. There’s someone in your corner to support you through ALL of the things. My AIM journey started with the AIM + Wildland CrossFit challenge. Less than two weeks in, I knew that continuing with AIM was an absolute necessity for me if I was truly serious about obtaining the weight loss and fitness goals that had continued to stay just out of reach for year after year after year. That’s the funny thing about goals, you can hide them forever if you want... “try”, make excuses, give up, “try” again (x1000). They don’t ever have to become a real thing you’re accountable to if you don’t ever tell anyone.
So that was my big AHA! moment. I could keep pretending that I had the tools to “diet” and the willpower to succeed on my own or I could just admit that I needed some help. However, accepting help also meant that these goals would become a real thing. My struggles, weaknesses and faults would be out in the open for someone else to see and that’s a scary thing. It meant that there was no quitting this time. No easy-outs, no being lazy, and no giving up just because it’s hard. Long story short, I was embarrassed about letting someone I admire get a front row seat to my shit show.
I sucked it up, put my pride aside and went for it. I laid it all out there for Coach Amy to see and you know what happened? I felt empowered. We broke down those old, negative habits one day at a time. The more transparent and vulnerable I became, the more support she gave me to fight my demons head-on. We were like dragon slayers conquering all the things that I was never willing to admit were a problem: the negative self talk, wine everyday just because, overindulging MOST of the time instead SOME of the time. She never demanded perfection but instead guided me to discover and treasure a life of balance.
There is no denying that it takes a tremendous amount of tenacity and commitment to create new habits, but having a nutrition coach by your side every step of the way makes something that is really freakin’ hard a whole lot more manageable. By *finally* going about change in a positive and healthy way, and with the help of a badass professional (who knows her shit upside down, backwards and sideways), I found so much joy in the process. I discovered that happiness and self love comes from the daily grind. The hustle and effort that goes into achieving the goal is the good stuff, not the goal itself. Goals continue to give me something to work towards, and a growth mindset is something that Coach Amy and I discuss regularly, but that has been my biggest takeaway while working with AIM. Screw the result, focus on the HABIT. Focus on the intentional effort and choices that drive you to be the best version of yourself, every single day.
Working with AIM has been a life altering experience; an absolute game changer. I cannot express my love and gratitude for this AIM crew. They are truly unrivaled - passionate, driven, beautiful inside and out, and intelligent beyond measure. Coach Amy met me where I was and guided me to find a new confidence in myself that had been missing for a long time... confidence that allows me to be the best wife, friend, teacher, coach, athlete and overall human possible.’
