The Secret Sauce
TRUTH: you cannot rely on motivation in order to make changes to your life in any capacity.
Motivation is great at helping us set big goals, but it won’t actually get us there. It is fleeting-it will come and go and ebb and flow.
There will always be days or weeks (or months) where we don’t “feel like it.” Maybe “it “ is tracking our macros, going to the gym, writing in our journal, or doing laundry.
We are not always motivated to go to work, exercise, cook dinner, or shower…but we do those things anyway, right?!? If we relied on motivation alone, we probably wouldn’t be employed, our children would be starving, and we would be real stinky.
Most of us probably do still feed our families and go to work because its ROUTINE. HABIT. The great thing is that we can do the exact same thing with our health and fitness, too.
Success comes from creating habits that aren’t just a product of whether or not we are motivated. Creating habits and routine will get us much farther than relying on if we “feel like it” each day.
If you had a crazy weekend or are facing a busy week ahead and motivation is low, GET BACK ON TRACK ANYWAY. It’s probably not the secret sauce you were looking for, but it will get you much farther than waiting for fleeting feelings of motivation.
