How to Make Macro Tracking Easier
Looking for ways to make macro tracking easier?
1. Pre-log your day ahead of time.
Spend 10 minutes the night before to pre-plan and log your next day meals. Use the ‘copy meal to another day’ feature in MacrosFirst to make logging leftovers easy! Not only does it save you time from trying to log and adjust macros as you go, it also prevents you from making impulsive or hangry decisions in the moment.
2. Log your favorites first and work backwards.
We always log dessert first! Or if you know you have a lunch date with a friend or want a glass of wine with dinner, log that first and then reverse engineer from there!
3. Repeat meals you enjoy eating often.
Reduce decision fatigue by making a list of 2-3 go-to meals you don’t mind repeating and eat those throughout the week. For some variety, you can cycle through the same for breakfast and lunch and make a different dinner each night.
4. Save your go-to meals in the app!
If you eat the same meals often, save those in the app and copy and paste rather than manually entering the info each time.
5. Do some simple prep 1-2 times per week.
Spend some time 1-2 times per week to batch cook a few staples to have on hand. Pick 1-3 options for protein, carbs, fruits, and veggies and have them washed and cut to make building salads or recipes easier and faster.
6. Stock the freezer with emergency staples.
Always keep your freezer stocked with some backup staples in case you get in a pinch and can’t make it to the store or you blow through your prepped food early in the week. Frozen chicken strips, shrimp, and turkey burgers from Costco are easy to be thrown into a InstantPot or air fryer for a quick throw together meal in a pinch. Don’t be afraid to use frozen veggies that can be microwaved and frozen fruit that quickly thaws or can be added to a smoothie or yogurt bowl.
