Sauteed Apples

These apples are a great way to have a "sweet" breakfast item and get some good, complex carbohydrates in early on in your day! You could make a large batch of these and measure out each serving or they are very quick to make right before you eat them! This is an excellent addition to a dairy-free, egg-free breakfast if you have those sensitivities. They pair perfectly with the turkey breakfast sausage patty we posted about last week!

Ingredients: 1 apple 1/2 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp butter

Method: Slice 1 apple (approx 3-4 ounces) Add 1 tsp of butter to a sautee pan. Heat the butter on medium heat, add the apple slices, add a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt, and a dash of cinnamon. Cook until the apples are slightly softened through. These store well in the fridge are a delicious cold or easily reheated.

OPTIONAL: you can easily adjust this recipe to have less fat or use more apple! Sub butter for a spritz of Pam or a spritz of oil or even steam the apples with water!
